Tree Removal & Felling

Sometimes a tree has to come down — whether it's dead, damaged, unsafe or simply in the wrong place. We take trees down safely and carefully, including in tight gardens and awkward spots.

What it involves

Depending on the tree and the space around it, it may be felled in one piece where there is room, or taken down in sections by a climber where there isn't. Branches and timber are then cleared away.

All our work is carried out by NPTC-qualified staff to BS3998, and we're fully insured.

Common reasons people call us

  • The tree is dead, dying or diseased
  • Storm damage has left it unstable
  • It is too close to a house, wall or other structure
  • It is blocking light or taking over the garden
  • You are making space for building work or landscaping

Every job is different

The species, size and health of the tree, how easy it is to reach, and what sits around it — buildings, fences, greenhouses or power lines — all change how a tree should be taken down. Some trees are protected by Tree Preservation Orders or sit in conservation areas, where permission may be needed first.

That's why we don't give prices over the phone. Tom will visit, assess the job in person and give you honest advice and a fixed written quote — free and with no obligation.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need permission to remove a tree?+

It depends. If the tree has a Tree Preservation Order or is in a conservation area, permission is usually needed. We can advise on this when we visit.

Can you remove a tree in a small or awkward garden?+

Often, yes — trees in confined spaces can usually be taken down in sections. We'll look at the access and the surroundings before advising.

Will you take the stump out too?+

We can, if you'd like. Stump grinding can be included in your quote — just let us know.

How much does tree removal cost?+

Every tree is different, so we can't give a price without seeing it. Tom will visit and give you a fixed written quote.
