What it involves
This can be a regular trim to keep a hedge in shape, or a heavier reduction in height or width where a hedge has got out of hand. Cuttings are cleared away afterwards.
All our work is carried out by NPTC-qualified staff to BS3998, and we're fully insured.
Common reasons people call us
- The hedge has become too tall or wide
- It overhangs a path, drive or road
- It's blocking light to the house or garden
- You'd like it kept tidy on a regular basis
Every job is different
Different hedging plants tolerate cutting in different ways, and some won't regrow from old wood. Height, length, access and what's on the other side all matter. Nesting birds are also protected, which can affect timing.
That's why we don't give prices over the phone. Tom will visit, assess the job in person and give you honest advice and a fixed written quote — free and with no obligation.

Frequently asked questions
Can an overgrown hedge be cut back hard?+
Some can, some can't — it depends on the plant. We'll tell you honestly what's likely to recover well.
When should hedges be cut?+
It depends on the type of hedge and whether birds are nesting. We'll advise on timing when we see it.
Do you take the cuttings away?+
Yes, we clear up after ourselves and leave the site tidy.
